Please note an article in this Months "Car & Driver" where they tested various model vehicles, including a late model Camry. All of the cars could stop the vehicles with the accelerator pump floored and the brake petal depressed at 60 MPH and at even higher speeds. The Brakes win everytime. Has anybody suspected driver error ? Lets face it, we have alot of lousy drivers out there. They panic and accidents happen. I am not defending Toyota.(I do own an 2006 Avalon and A 2008 Lexus), but lets tell it like it is. Toyota really could not find a mat problem and I do not believe the gas petal shim will fix the accelerator problem. Toyota is reacting because they have to do something. I believe there is an electrical problem which is erratic and is the real problem. This is why the vehicles behave the way they do. We may never know.
