I just joined the iPhone cult and spent 4 hours last night downloading apps! Which got me thinking about how small businesses are using this mobile marketing tool. I found an interesting video from Fox News that discusses some of the ways small businesses can use this new technology to their advantage. I am wondering have any of you created an iphone app? How was your experience creating it? Is it helping business? Let us know in the comments, we would love to hear from you.

2010 will be the year of business marketing applications, with the difference of having android, google, and RIM turning into major competition for Apple.
My company created an iPhone application that allows people to connect to FileMaker Pro (a very popular database solution used by about 12 million people). Small to medium sized businesses from around the world have bought the application to design databases for their companies and have their information locally stored on there iPhone.
The process of developing the app was not difficult, it took about 6 months for our first build and about 2 weeks to get through the Apple submission process. Since then we have updated the application numerous times and we have 4 Apps on the Apple store.
We’ve also created an application for BlackBerry which was much more difficult than build an Application for Apple.
Mobile applications will continue to grow and dominate the industry.
Stephen, thank you for sharing your story with us. The app you created sounds like such a useful app for entrepreneurs!
